Dinan and Lehon
Dinan is a very picturesque town in Northern Brittany, near St. Malo and Lehon is a town just outside of Dinan. I walked to the town on Lehon - and it was about a 25 minute scenic walk. Both towns are beautiful, old and full of history. I unfortunately wasn’t blown away with their patisserie, but I did have a nice dinner and also enjoyed my brief stay at my only bed and breakfast on my trip.
I have been feeling a bit under the weather due to changing towns so quickly, long travel days and also the weather being quite rainy and cold. I however just checked into a hotel in Normandy for 5 days (the longest duration of my trip) and I do not have much longer on this wonderful France trip. This allows me to catch up on the writing and also gives me a home base to come back to when I am feeling tired. People have been asking me how I am not packing the pounds on my trip, well I have been averaging 18k-20k or more steps a day, so it has been keeping me in a bit of shape. I also try to eat things that I really want to try and not just indulge at every bakery I see.
The bed and breakfast I stayed at is an old house, but don’t worry, its warm and completely outfitted with modern amenities. It is wonderful being able to step out of the place where your staying a see the old city walls and cobblestone paths. Also, the host is quite lovely and the breakfast is plentiful. I found the price to be excellent and it is right near the city center.

I didn’t find any boulangeries that I liked. The pastries provided by the B&B were good, but the shops I went to in town however were not. I did have a nice dinner at the restaurant below. I enjoyed an olive tapenade with fresh baguette, and also I had a chicken and rice dinner. I haven’t eaten any meat on this trip besides the salmon in my crepes so it was a nice change. It had a wonderful sauce and braise on the meat. Here are some photos of the restaurant inside which I found to be wonderfully decorated. Also, the service was impeccable, friendly and the food was great.

Here are some photos that I took around Lehon and Dinan. If you are to visit, rent a car so that you are not limited to these towns and you can see some of the apple orchards and local farms. Still a worthwhile stopover if you are visiting Brittany, for even just the breathtaking sights.
