Paris

Bonjour everyone!

It’s been quite an experience traveling to France and adjusting to the local time. Although my internal time clock is off (I’m writing this at 12:30 am), I have been eating a lot of great food. I have been to Paris twice before and I don’t remember having such a culinary experience. I luckily haven’t had a bad meal yet!

Du Pain et des Idees

This boulangerie extraordinaire is located in the 10th arrondissement. It has all of the traditional pastries including croissant beurre, pain au chocolat and apple tarts. I was interested in trying l’escargot aux pistaches, and it didn’t disappoint. The flavor of the slightly caramelized nuts and the unctuousness of the butter was utterly delectable!

Le Recamier

I really wanted to eat souffle, which is a dish of really whipped up egg whites with assorted add ins - usually cheese. Some of the reviews of the restaurants serving souffle were negative, but I’m glad I ignored them. Not only was my first souffle experience amazing, but the wait staff were so kind and attentive. I was wearing a Metallica t-shirt and had no reservation but they treated me with a friendly smile and top notch service. They have savory and sweet souffles - I would get both!

La Maison d’Isabelle

Voted best croissant in 2018, La Maison d’Isabelle is a wonderful establishment producing the highest level of patisserie. I tried the croissant beurre, and it was one of the best croissants I’ve ever had. The lightness of the pastry, the layering within the croissant and the flakiness was just exceptional. I also enjoyed the flavor of the croissant, which I would attest to the kind of flour and butter they are using.

Le Potager de Charlotte

This is a plant-based restaurant that is doing amazing plates. For under 30 euros, I was able to eat until satiety. I especially loved the first dish (pictured), which is this pancake/crepe willed with a sightly spicy cashew creme. It was nothing like I’ve had before. If you decide to visit, I would make reservations online. And just so you know, they have two locations.
